About The Author

Supporting One Dream! Mysterious anonymous Asterhythm is here! This is a bit TL;DR, but I figure this is where you look for the standard Carrd info.-- I keep my personal information pretty close to me, but you should know I'm OLD. Like, I vividly remember 9/11 and have written about it a LOT. If this bothers you, you are free to block. I'm cool with that.
-- I consider myself a writer before I consider myself a fan (ARMY, MOA, weeb, otherwise). Not only have I written for many different fandoms over the years, I've circled the traditional publishing world for ages and have LOTS of IRL author friends. My opinion on fandom matters might be different than the norm because of this. You don't have to agree with me on everything.
-- As I am VERY queer, I write ship fics because I've written ship fics FOREVER, and I remember the days when my queerness was only reflected in fanfiction, not in mainstream media. I also really enjoy writing self-inserts/second person fic, and would rather create a new character for a straight ship than pull someone from another band.
-- I have an ENTIRE collection of settings and names that cross over between my fics. We call this the AsteRealm. If you read one of my fics, you will most likely run into some form of this.
-- I champion the Own Voices movement. On Wattpad, I call it "The Story Only You Can Write." I want to read fanfics that take place in places I have never heard of, considering issues I don't know about, written by people who live there. And I do the same thing. Most if not all of my fics take place in America and highlight issues here and teach about America, with an emphasis on daily life and the unknown.
-- In my real world life, I write music. Sometimes I'll make music for my fics; this is available ONLY on my AudioMack. Yes, I do have music on Spotify. Yes, it is under my deadname. No, I will not tell you where it is.
-- I have some light sensory processing issues and therefore I don't always understand context. I do best on the Internet, where everything is typed, but if I misunderstand something, please DM me and be GENTLE. My biggest fear is being cancelled and not knowing WHAT I did to get there.

Fandoms

My rules regarding fanfiction are as follows:

  • As a fanfiction writer, you are allowed to write WHATEVER YOU WANT, full stop.

  • As a fanfiction writer, you also have a responsibility to ensure that what you write reaches the correct audience.

These two rules govern everything I write, from K-Pop fandoms to anime to everything in between. Fanfiction is a remix of reality; I do not ship ANYBODY in real life and I do NOT take shipping super seriously. Yes, I suppose this makes me a "proshipper." We didn't call it back in the day. If you have a problem with me writing fanfiction, why are you here??
The two rules come from my history not only as a fanfiction writer, but as a queer person who is aware that censorship comes first for adult workers and queer people. I am NEVER going to police what somebody else writes. EVER. What you write is up to you, from the most innocent of fics to the deadest of doves. HOWEVER, posting fanfiction does come with responsibility to ensure that only the right people see it. This is why I am such a big fan of AO3; the responsibility starts with the author tagging their fic correctly, and once that is done, the responsibility switches to the reader, who must heed the tags. This also means ensuring that IP holders never see your fanfic.
There are some fanfictions that should never see the light of day or should be shared only with your closest fans. This is also okay. Not every fanfic needs to be out there for the world to eat alive. Sometimes it just needs to stay precious to you and your eyes only.
I do not believe that writing adult content in RPF fandoms about ADULTS is sexualization, based on my rule that fanfiction is a remix of reality. Each adult fic is a reflection of the author's own world, and if done appropriately and tastefully, it can be beautiful and wonderful to read. This also depends on the fandom; if the fandom does not want adult fics, they should either not be written, or written and heavily tagged.
I believe that writing adult content in RPF fandoms with minors in groups is CSEM and is illegal, full stop. If you are THAT desperate, wait until your idol is an adult or pick another group to write about!! For anime fandoms, I care a heck of a lot less and love a little scandal/rarepairs/age gaps as long as everybody is of age and there's no sign of grooming. As someone of the FF.net era, I am a huge fan of the "age up your characters" rule and will apply it liberally.
Basically: I'm never gonna tell you what to write or what not to write. Whatever you write, I will support it. But just because I support you as a writer does not mean you should publish that story on the Internet, especially if Twitter will ratio you into oblivion. Cherish the story, not the popularity that comes or doesn't come from writing it. Show integrity and respect to the story, ALWAYS. That is what it means for me to be a writer.

Regarding K-Pop:

  • I currently only stan BTS and TXT. I am a soft stan not because of personal choice or obligation, but because I'm a lesbian and it's impossible for me to hard stan anybody. This reflects in my writing -- my experience is in writing young adult fiction.

  • I currently stan Kep1er and will do so until they disband at the end of their promotional period.

  • I am a casual fan of many groups, including but not limited to: Stray Kids, NiziU, LUNARSOLAR, A.C.E, and STAYC. I adamantly refuse to hate on ANY artist unless they are proven to be toxic.

  • I have been listening to J-Pop for most of my life and will definitely scream about it if given the chance.

  • Most people know I had a K-Pop group that was my everything, and I watched it be destroyed in front of me. I will occasionally mention this group on the TL, but I do a good job of keeping it locked away. If you want more information, you can click the link below, where I've explained what I can:

More About Me

  • Remember that I am OLD. (If I were a gay man, I would be expired.) There may be some things you cannot reveal to me, especially if you are in America and your parents get mad about that type of thing. (Mine sure did when I was younger.)

  • At this point I am not accepting follows or contact from minors. Please DNI and block.

  • If you state on your Carrd or profile that you do not want interaction from people from my age group, I will preemptively block you and not engage. It's not about me; it's about what you want and need. If you somehow find my fics and like them, and I have you blocked, please message me elsewhere and I will make a judgement call.

  • I reserve the right to block anybody for any reason. This is mostly for my mental health.

  • I occasionally talk about VERY non-lethal self harm when it happens for accountability. I want you to know I am never a mortal danger to myself, and I am open about my struggles so that others can be as well. (Recognizing my gender dysphoria has helped a LOT.)

  • I still have a stalker (you know her now as the Blue Rose Woman) out there somewhere, whom I'm sure is just waiting for the moment to ruin my life again. If she ever shows up, I ask that you believe me, even though I will probably be a mess at the time.

  • If you ever see me on the TL having a hard time, the response is always to reply with pictures of Soobin from TXT (better known as "sending Soobs"). Soobin has somehow become my safe space, so sending pics of him is NEVER something that can trigger me.

  • If you are any version of phobic (transphobic, homophobic, racist, etc) I request for you not to follow me.

  • Please check with me first before following if you are a stan of SM Entertainment groups, preferably before 4th generation/NCT.

  • If you are not a fanfiction writer or reader, or you consider being an AO3 writer to be a joke or a derogatory term, please do not interact.

  • Likewise, ageism is not the insult you think it is. Your give-a-damn gets busted the older you get because your brain changes; this is proven by science, not to mention a lot of fellow noonas who will back me up. If your reaction to an older person having a bad day is "you're old, go pay your taxes," you will be blocked.

  • If you are a Britophile, that is fine, but I would prefer you follow me on social media with an account that does not post that material frequently.

  • If you post abusive content to others on Twitter for any reason, I will not only block you, but I will probably report your Tweet in question. There are humans behind every account on Twitter (someone had to write the bots). It is fine to disapprove of one's actions, especially if they are meant to slander. It is another to demand physical harm to another human.

Before You Follow

  • This is obviously an RPF account/fanfiction writer, antishippers need not apply. Obviously I don't take shipping super seriously and it's all fun and games, I'm just not in the mood to be murdered over it.

  • Minors DNI. (I'm old at this point, you don't want to interact with me and I don't think it's smart.) Minors whom I am currently mentoring may continue contact on a writing base only.

  • I don't post NSFW things on my TL but may like things my friends post on occasion. Mature fics are only posted on AO3. Explicit fics are posted under a separate pseudonym to protect small eyes.

  • Solos and multis DNI.

  • The obvious DNI criteria DNI. I am very very queer but will also not tolerate prejudice against anybody at all.

  • Stans with SHINee as their primary group or who post content related to 12-18-17 please DNI (that's for my safety, you keep doing you).

  • I curate my TL to protect me, if I block you, no hard feelings.

Thank You
